Life Update

So, life isn't going as smoothly as I'd like. My current job dealt me a terrible hand (which I will not describe), so to support myself I've decided to reduce my hours and pick up another job and, hopefully, a third job soon.

Inheritors of the Earth

Usually, the cheaper the paper, the higher the acid content, and acid content means faster decay of the paper (which is why comic books should never be stored in paper envelopes, but instead in plastic comic covers or the like).

You know what? Whatever.

I've decided I'm no longer going to try to make a blog designed to focus on any particular topic. Every time I've tried doing so, I end up neglecting the blog for way too long due to my lovely ADD mind wanting to run towards a different direction if I am going to treat this blog like a pasttime. While I'd like to pretend to myself (and probably to most of the world) that this blog is a full-time job, it doesn't at all bring bread to the table. Thus, I might as well have fun with it, not take it too seriously, and end up posting more frequently. That's all what this post is about, just to make it more official to myself and probably anybody else who might give a shit.

Beautiful Creatures Book Review

Yes, I know this took me way too long. It wasn't completely my fault (I'm clearly avoiding full responsibility like an adult), the book is VERY long and was very, very slow for nearly half of it (I'm clearly expecting you to accept my excuse as a good one). The main reason why I didn't get done reading Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl is thanks to my wonderful gift of being driven to distraction. This past January and much of February has been eventful, but it was all up to me as to whether or not I was going to make time for myself. I took the backseat and now I am behind in many of what I consider my priorities, which includes this blog. The best apology I can give is to catch up ASAP.

Warm Bodies Film Review (...and Me Kicking Myself)

I got to see Warm Bodies last night! By the time I got back home, I was incredibly exhausted from my long week at work and too tired to keep my eyes open to stare at any other screen for the rest of the evening. I was committed to writing my review in the morning. Of course I get up too late and the rest of the day I'm left in charge of cleaning the house by myself, making dinner, and having guests all night long while my father talks until 11pm even though I have work tomorrow at 7am. Alas, it is Saturday evening, but I suppose now is better than later.

Warm Bodies Prequel for 1/28 Release!

Yes, it turns out Isaac Marion wrote a prequel to his wonderful zombie romance Warm Bodies, entitled The New Hunger! It's official release date will be in just three more days, January 28, 2013. And my Barnes and Noble did not get an advanced readers copy. NOT FAIR!

Warm Bodies Book Review

I'm so glad I've gotten around to writing this before the film adaptation is released in theaters! While I am not a staunch believer of reading originals before watching adaptations, I still believe that having experienced one format will influence the reception of the other. In other words, it is best for me to get this out of the way before I allow the film to "contaminate" my opinion of the book, so to speak.

I first heard of Warm Bodies while working at Barnes and Noble, attempting to find a copy for a customer. I usually don't read books about zombies, just watch TV shows and movies or read graphic novels about them, but I was intrigued after hearing that the zombies in this story are for the most part "sentient." I like unique twists on themes I already enjoy and, after learning that a film was going to be made based on the story, I was compelled to grab a copy of my own. I am very pleased I did.
